Ring for Singles

Got this interesting thread from Kikay Exchange. Read on:

Let your Finger Do the Talking. Singelringen Signals You're Single - and Very Okay with it.

Singelringen is a Swedish company, whose product also called Singelringen, is a "ring for singels". This unisex ring, featuring a turquoise color acrylic layer shining over a silver band, is worn on the right hand or on a neck chain as the opposite of a wedding ring, to signify that the wearer is available for dating. On the inside of each ring is inscribed a unique registration number, which you could input into Singelringen website and allows you to communicate with singles all over the world.Johan Wahlbäck, the founder of Singelringen, while enjoying his single life, recognized that although married people and engaged people have rings, there is nothing that allows single people to clearly announce their status.

Singelringen started selling in Sweden in April 2005 and is now a well-known brand in Scandinavia and has expanded to Europe, South America, Japan and Asia. It is currentls one of the top 5 fall fashion must-haves in the States and has been seen on the fingers of Renee Zellweger, Naomi Campbell, Juliette Lewis and Natalie Portman.

And now, the Singelringen is available in the Philippines!

Me Likey-Like It!

Have you ever experienced love at first sight? I did! I fell in love *or is it lust? hehehe...* with the new HP Mini Vivienne Tam Edition. Do you wanna know why? Just take a look at this:

Isn't so darn beautiful?! *drools* I bet some of you got hypnotized *hehehe!* Believe it or not, it is really a laptop. Want more? Here's another photo... *sigh*

What a beauty! And of course, like they always say "beauty has a price", check this out: this new HP Mini Vivienne Tam Edition retails for a cool € 435 or Php. 27, 950. *bubble pops*

I could just imagine all the fashionistas in their Jimmy Choo and Christian Louboutin shoes running to the nearest HP stores just to get this one of a kind laptop. But you have to hurry ladies, I heard they only have 200 - or is it 250? units to sell.

Oh and look, it can also pass as a clutch! *eyes twinkling*

Would you go far to buy such thing?...

All Tied Up with a Bow

I go through phases with my clothing style - from relaxed, classic, sporty to preppy but lately I have been loving really feminine styles. Something like with bows, laces, ruffles, soft colors and embellishments. Also I'm loving flats - or here they call it pumps. It goes well with feminine clothes, don't you agree?

Well I'm not trying to be like Imelda Marcos, but you know how we girls are, you just can't get enough shoes! *wink*

How about you? What's your style?

"Of all the rights of women,
the greatest is to be a mother."

my beautiful mother

I totally agree. My mom is like a neverending song in my heart, my comfort, my happiness and my being. She is my rock, my ever present source of love and understanding. All that I am or ever hope to be, I owe to my wonderful mother. Thank you Mama for everything. Without you, I am nothing. I Love you so much!

Lost in Translation

I have been doing some translation jobs from time to time. I've translated documents from german to tagalog, english to german and tagalog to german. I mean these are just simple documents, not over the top. I got this small job from my hubby, who is a real certified translator and interpreter. He's the one doing the tough stuffs, I'm just his backup *hehehe* He thinks that it's a good thing for me so that I could improve my german language knowledge and to make it even better. And he was right. It did really help me a lot.

One doesn't realize how much hard work there is in a translation job unless one had actually tried it. I, for one actually did it and I'm telling you it's no picnic. You think that understanding is ok, but putting them in words or in writing from one language to another is really hard. You have to put lots effort on how to make it very understandable and how to make it sound eloquent, in order to make your readers interested and not be bored.

My first translation gave me lots of headaches. It was so damn hard! But once you get the hang of it, it becomes easier *as if!* but I have to admit that sometimes I feel like I'm running out of vocabulary. My hubby says it's normal for a beginner *yabang! haha!* Once I translated a Remittance Center poster Ad from german to tagalog, (they said, they want to reach out to the Filipino people living here in germany...) It was really funny because writing the ad in pure tagalog made it sound like you're reading Christy Fermin's column, grabe ang lalim ng tagalog haha! but it was really fun. Right now I'm translating a contract for a Holiday Home in France. Every translation has to be proof read by my hubby and when it's all ok, then it's time to send it to the client. I hope everything goes well. I am really starting to enjoy this. Doing this work made me appreciate the people behind those subtitles that you see in the movies and the foreign books that you read.

Now I truly understand how my hubby really need those peace and quiet whenever he is working in his office. Hats off to all Translators and Interpreters!

You Gotta Ket-cup!

Five surprising uses for ketchup

Whether you enjoy ketchup with fries or -- like some Americans -- a few fries with a boatload of ketchup, there's no denying the ubiquity and popularity of the distinctive red condiment. Ketchup has been satirized, politicized (W Ketchup anyone?) and considered for reclassification as a vegetable. Many folks can't even agree how it should be spelled (catsup or catchup perhaps?).

We're guessing we're not the only ones who squirrel away unused packets of ketchup in desks and cabinets after a quick meal on the go. (Or who have aging, half-empty bottles of the stuff crammed in the back of the fridge.) And since we hate to waste things here at The Daily Green, we got to thinking about ways to creatively reuse extra ketchup -- we mean besides the obvious choices of making recession ketchup "pizza" or "spaghetti." Shudder…...

By the way, wonder what's in ketchup? Typically tomato concentrate (duh), the ubiquitous corn syrup or another sweetener, vinegar, salt, spice and herb extracts (including celery), spice and garlic powder. Some brands also include allspice, cloves, cinnamon, onion and other vegetables.

While none of us should be eating too much salt or corn syrup, it's hard to argue with the fact that the ingredients list is decidedly non-toxic, especially when you compare it to the chemical-laded conventional cleaning products and shampoos that it can replace.

So check out these great alternative uses for ketchup, which will save you money and time:

Shine your copper

Whether you have copper-bottomed cooking pans, arch

itectural detailing, or shiny knick-knacks, forget mucking about with costly and potentially toxic metal polish pastes. Why not use some of those old ketchup packets stashed away in your kitchen drawers?

Here's a very simple recipe from Michael de Jong, TDG's Zen Cleaner and author of the Clean series of simple living books:

Massage ketchup over the copper and watch it dissolve the tarnish away (thanks to the acid). In the event that you have stubborn spots, add a pinch of table salt while you polish.

Get those auto parts gleaming

According to The Cymbal Book by Hugo Pinksterboer, some folks have seen decent results getting their cars to shine by rubbing with ketchup. The book notes that the condiment does a good job cutting tarnish, but not so well in removing dirt. Sounds like you may need a multi-step process, with some soap and water as well.

Give it a try and let us know if it works for you.

Fight Skunk Odors

If you've lived in a rural or even suburban part of North America, chances are you may have had a run-in with a skunk one night or evening. Or perhaps your dog has. Although some experts have cautioned that the technique may not actually work well (beyond a masking sensation), many people still swear by tomato juice as a way to remove potent skunk odor. Michael de Jong points out that in the event you don't have any tomato juice on hand you can try using plain ketchup instead.

Get back prettier hair from chlorine damage

According to de Jong, ketchup can also be used to correct limey-hair-highlights-gone-green, which can sometimes occur from exposure to chlorine found in swimming pools (another good reason to check out natural pools as a refreshing alternative).

How? Restore your normal hair color -- or at least the one you paid dearly for -- by applying full strength ketchup to your hair. Smoosh it in, let it linger for about 20 minutes and then wash it out thoroughly.

Soothe wounds

Unused ketchup packets pile up across America by the millions, as hurried diners and service staff often grab huge handfuls, only to end up using a few. Lisa posted over on Seacoast Online that she freezes leftover ketchup and soy sauce packets to use on her children's "small booboos and bumps." She claims, "The kids LOVE them." Apparently even the mere appearance of the packets often makes their hurts go away.
